Welcome To Arizona's Read For The Record Blog!

Jumpstart’s Read for the Record campaign puts books in the homes of children who need them most and focuses on helping them make gains in crucial language and literacy skills. This year’s official Campaign book is the beloved children’s classic Corduroy from Penguin Young Readers.

Last year in Arizona over 18,000 children, parents, teachers, community leaders and volunteers read "The Story of Ferdinand." Nationwide we reached a world record of over 250,000 participants in the world's largest reading event. This year, we believe we can reach a million!

We hope even more Arizonans will be part of the joy and experience of giving the gift of literacy as we Read For The Record, Arizona 2008!

On October 2, 2008, volunteers will be reading Corduroy to children around the world as we promote the need for literacy skills. Join us by creating your own event at http://www.readfortherecord.org/ or by attending a registered event in your area.

We promise this experience will change your life when you take the time to read to a child and donate a book!

Thank you to our returning supporters and participants and welcome to all those who will join us this year. We can truly make a difference together!
